Blake Cobbin was born in Maroubra, NSW, in 2000 and the family relocated to Northern NSW in July 2007 to grow Blake’s passion for MX, which was created after supporting family member, Luke Burkhart (NZ) back in 2003 at a Super MX challenge – that was it, Blake was hooked and received his first bike for his 5^th birthday, a Suzuki JR50, it lasted him about 4 months as he wanted it to jump bigger jumps than it could handle.

His next bike was a KTM Pro Senior – his pride and joy!

2013 US Riding:-

The beginning of this year he spent 3 months travelling around the US riding tracks in LA, Texas and Kentucky. The experience of riding the varying terrains and meeting some of the Pros was awesome.

Trip highlights:-          

- World Minis in Mesquite Nevada, 4^th, 5^th, 6^th and 8^th in the stock, modified, super mini 1 and super mini 2 classes.

- California Classic 4^th 85cc stock class.

- Muscle Milk MX Race Series in California, was winning the series before having to leave to travel across the country to compete in qualifiers for Loretta Lynn’s.

- High Fly MX Park in Indiana (Loretta Lynn’s Area Qualifier) 2^nd, 3^rd, 3^rd, 3^rd in the stock, modified, super mini 1 and super mini 2 classes.

- Buffalo Creek MX Qualifier in Tennessee (Loretta Lynn’s Area Qualifier) 2^nd, 3^rd and 3^rdin stock, mini senior and super mini 1.

- Kentuckiana MX Championship Series in Kentucky, competed in 2 rounds of a 9 round series and won super mini 1 and the schoolboy 12-16 yrs (125cc).

Goals and Ambitions:-

His ambition is to be a MX champion and ride for a factory team and travel the world riding cool tracks. The goal is to travel to the US each year to build experience and enhance skills in different racing formats.

BLAKE COBBIN MX ACHIEVEMENTS FOR 2011

The Australian National Junior Motocross Championships for 2011 were held at Murray Bridge in South Australia during last week of September and October long weekend.

After a very long 18 hours drive, the event ran over 5 days.  Firstly, racing to qualify for the finals against 80 of Australia’s best junior riders, then going onto race in 3 Finals in each class being 65cc and 85cc.

Blake’s overall result on the 65cc was a 4th, after coming equal 3rd on points but dropping back one place on a count back and on the 85cc final placing was 15th.

During the year Blake also competed in the Northern NSW Championships which was run over 5 separate weekends at different race tracks. He achieved 1st place in both classes making him the Northern NSW Champion for both 65cc and 85cc. He also competed in a one day North Coast Open MX Championships at Grafton, which had kids from as far as Moree and Dubbo riding, where he won both classes convincingly, making him the North Coast Open Champion as well.

Taupo NZ Motocross Extravaganza 2010

Blake Cobbin, arrived back in October 2010 from New Zealand after competing at Taupo Motocross Extravaganza and placing 8^th overall after coming 4^th in the first race but the challenging Taupo track took its toll, racing on sawdust and volcanic rock with the thermal steam rising up through the track.  All good experience as it is the home track of Ben Townley and Cody Cooper for all those MX fans.  Next trip to New Zealand is expected to be January 2011 at Woodville, we’ll keep you posted.

2010 National Junior Motocross Championships

Blake Cobbin has once again competed in the National Junior Motocross Championships, held October 2010 at Lake Macquarie.



Blake rode very consistently in both the 65cc and 85cc classes, coming a respectable 14th and 17th overall.



Due to a fall in the last 65cc race his placing dropped back from the top 10 he was running but his lap times tell it all with him running the same times as the top of the pack.



His 85cc class put on some excellent racing with Blake being able to keep pace with much older riders.



Altogether a successful meet and thanks to his sponsors North Coast KTM, Budd Racing, Tough Computers, Chozen Riders, Big Boss Graphics and of course mum and dad we are wishing him all the best for a great year next year.
